Woody in the Kootenai or "Woody's ancient 35mm slides live again!"
Well above the lake, and
looking east from Mt.
Snowy. The highway is at the end of this valley, running north
and south.
Wild flowers on the
steep, rock slope running into the lake.
More wildflowers growing
out of cracks in the rock.
I did my climbing up the mountain through those trees in the
background on a ridge. I was pretty careful going out on the bare
rock face. One slip and ... zoom!
Above the lake looking
west to the peak of Mt. Snowy.
I heard a low rumble, and looked around as I didn't want to be on top of a mountain
in a thunder storm. At that height, clouds with some light rain
were zipping into me and by me fast. Below, I saw ripples on the water
traveling away from a glacier. A huge chunk of glacier had broken
off. That was the "thunder".
We had a lot of fun on one glacier sliding down its length.
Had to be real careful about stopping before we slid into water.
Looking southwest from
one high point to another.
Looking southeast from
Mount Snowy.
Looking northwest over
the top of Leigh Lake.
From the mountain south
of Leigh Lake looking east down at the trail head.
This picture is cropped so it is "zoomed in" a little.
